Billing Methodologies

Over its history, MBR has continuously refined its billing methodologies and operating systems in order to achieve the best results possible for our clients.  Core elements to our success include:

bullet

Prompt processing of encounter data and submission of insurance claims (typically within 24 hours);

A function-based and systematic approach to accounts receivable management that ensures all necessary billing, payment and follow-up activities are performed in a timely manner throughout each claim’s life cycle.

bullet

Each client has uniquely assigned Client Managers and Billing Supervisors that are responsible for daily client communications and issues resolution.

Performance

“payday” comes faster than 75% of all group practices in the U.S.

bullet

cash flow is more consistent and reliable

bullet

elimination of “lost” collections that are the inevitable result of poor AR management

bullet

first year collections typically improve between 5-10% for new clients with established practices

Value of Outsourcing to MBR

MBR allocates over 50% of its billing costs to the successful collection of the last 20-30% of charges that typically do not get paid on first submission.  Resolution of these claims can require up to 10 times more effort to resolve and achieve payment.  Typically, small practices have limited resources that almost never have the time to do this work in a complete or timely fashion.  Also, whenever a practice's billing staff are not able to work due to illness, vacation, etc., cash flow is negatively impacted.  By routinely applying timely and aggressive collection efforts to these last 20-30% of charges, we are able to generate higher and more consistent collections, often at lower costs for most practices.

Other benefits of our services include having Certified Coders to ensure billing accuracy, daily deposits of practice receipts, relieving practice of phone call volume relating to patient account inquiries, monthly reporting geared to the specific needs of each client and ad hoc data mining and analysis as requested.

Our value is enhanced by the fact that we utilize NextGen Healthcare System’s EPM (Enterprise Practice Management) software.  NextGen EPM is one of the highest rated practice management systems available in the U.S. today, but it's cost pushes it beyond the budget of most small practices.  Through MBR, our clients get the best software and billing expertise possiblw.

Physician’s Future / Our Future

Physician practice incomes are increasingly being squeezed by higher operating costs that cannot be passed onto patients.  Existing challenges to receiving payment from government and commercial payers are being aggravated by new regulations and claims processing requirements.  “Lost” collections can no longer be tolerated if physicians are going to maintain or hope to improve profitability in the ever-changing healthcare industry.

MBR believes more and more physician practices will become attracted to the benefits of outsourcing their billing as a part of their future business strategies.  MBR is committed to provide exceptional results for our growing client base for many years to come.
